HOCKNEY 84 Cricket Cap

In 1984, photographer Richard Schulman nervously drove the winding roads of the Hollywood Hills to an assignment to shoot one of the most recognised artists in the world, David Hockney, at his house and studio on Woodrow Wilson Drive.

The shoot doubled as an art history and theory lecture, Schulman coming away with a series of seminal portraits and a remarkable insight into Hockney's inspirations, influences and what he described as his "artist's code", as well as a cassette of Mendelssohn concertos for his drive back to downtown LA.

In his cavernous studio and on his veranda, Hockney sits at ease in chinos, dirty CVO sneakers, oversized bengal striped dress shirt and, as a nod to his Yorkshire roots, an English cricket cap.

Here is our faithful recreation of the cap in forest green, burgundy and cream Melton Wool hooped panels. Made in England, by a traditional cricket wear maker, with a gently elasticated back for ease of fit.
