THE ARTIST'S SMOCK - BARKIT TAN

The quintessentially coastal garment, beloved by artists, craftspeople and the fishermen and workers they were originally designed for.

Ours are made in a British workwear factory, family owned since the late 19th century and cut and sewn in a hefty cotton twill.

Generously cut with a straight boxy fit, two front pockets, split side vents and a V neck collar.

"Barkit" refers to the bark-dyed cotton that the fishermen of Fife would use to make nets; the leftover scraps of which were sewn into smocks. Also Scots slang for "dirty".
